Remember when we would watch MTV with the sound down and with the ZOO cranked up until a good video came on?

KZEW-FM Founder Ira Lipson Will Take His Place in the Texas Radio Hall of Fame

Congratulations goes out to KZEW's Ira Lipson who will be inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame this year. It's about time.

I found a ZOO clip with Ira, who would many times fill in for the jocks who were either out sick or on vacation, under the air name Ira J. Cook. He even had a daily show on the ZOO for a while in '77.

Gary Shaw Tribute

I'm sorry to say Gary Shaw passed away today in Flordia. He was one of the original Zoo Crew at KZEW and one of the earliest contributors to this site as well. He was a great guy and will be truly missed. The video is a Gary Shaw Production from his My Space page.

1970 Don Schuster W4 Detroit Radio Air Check

Here's a rare look inside the W4 Detroit studio. It's December 26, 1970, just months before the change to the 'Progressive Rock' format, which brought W4 to the number two position in the Detroit radio market.

Detroit Lives

If you read chapter two of the ZOO history, you would know that KZEW in many ways originated in Detroit. Check out this cool film about Detroit's comeback and music scene...then and now. Goes to show everything comes full circle...well..hopefully. Enjoy...Zookeeper

Merry Christmas and Happy Zoo Year

You Say it's Your Birthday! Ringo Starr celebrates his 70th birthday today July 7th 2010!

It was 25 years ago this month...

It was 25 years ago this month, when Robert Plant was in Dallas rehearsing for his “Shaken ‘n’ Stirred” Tour, that kicked off later in the month in Vancouver. The ZOO had the "Plant Patrol" out to see if anybody could spot Robert around town. Contest winners got to come to the Las Calinas ZOO studios to see Robert do a live broadcast of "Rockline".
